Five Voices and the Effective Teacher
is essential reading for teachers of every subject in all sectors of education. It has been devised by Lesley Hendy and is of and comes from years of experience in training teacher’s voices and encountering the many vocal problems teachers incur during their teaching career. “When asked what they want from a voice workshop most teachers will say ’I want to make my voice louder’ or ‘how can I stop getting sore throats?’ These are very practical concerns about behaviour management”

Speech & Drama: Bridging the Gap with GCSE, AS & AS2
A feature which shows how mainstream drama teachers, and teachers of speech and drama, both compliment and mirror each other is written by a visiting examiner for Edexcel on the A level Drama & Theatre Studies and who has taught GCSE, A level drama and theatre studies as well as Speech & Drama,

Scheme of Work Exploration in Drama
In every copy there will be a scheme of work, lesson plans or workshops which teachers can use freely. In the current issue is a 6 week scheme, using the play Dancing at Lughnasa and Stanislavski’s techniques. This scheme can be used to teach students about Stanislavski, as a character study or for a unit in the A level Drama and Theatre Studies papers.

Unit 2 Text in Performance - Solos & Duologues
New plays, premiered last year, are reviewed specifically for all drama teachers, with solos and duologues in mind.

There are prizes to be won: Nick Hern Books have donated new play texts as prizes to be given to the first eight readers who submit a year’s subscription to Word Matters.
