The prospect of teaching remotely a ‘hands on’ and spontaneous subject such as Speech and Drama – filled me with dread.
I had to be thankful though that the school who employs me to teach LAMDA wanted to keep it running to continue providing the pupils with as fuller learning experience as possible during lockdown.
Microsoft Teams was set up as the platform for this. Day one approached of the Summer Term – I logged on – held my breath and there was my first pupil!!!
The day ran smoothly only to be married the following day by us experiencing a localised power cut which involved 3 vans and digger!!! A days teaching lost.
I find my teaching style is unaltered and I am covering much of what I would have done face to face. I use my voice an awful lot more as everything is talk talk talk. I am reading more to pupils before emailing speeches across.
Progress is being made and I am enjoying it, though not a techno convert!!!  I do miss the actual contact – as I am sure everyone does.
Keep safe.
